Survivial Kit for People Living with Aphasia
Aphasia Toolkit

Sample cards as tools This ‘tool kit’ was designed for anyone living with aphasia including people with aphasia and their spouse, adult children, or health care worker. It is also for speech-language pathologists interested in a “Life Participation” approach to treatment.
By Allison Baird, M.S., CCC-SLP B.S., Psychology Certified ASHA in US and Canada, Health Professions Council for the UK Website: AphasiaWorks.com
These tools really WORK!
One tool, “Week at a Glance” has been presented at an International conference in London, England. This tool was used weekly by members of a communication group. Some people with aphasia for over five years have noticed improvements in speech and language after regular tool use. Couples who have been trained in tool use by attending an eight week program have good things to say about the tools. Everyone has a favorite tool that has been most helpful in improving or enhancing communication. Couples have reported an appreciation for learning to express themselves differently, without words. Other couples report enjoying the opportunity to share information by telling and asking questions with the support provided by a tool.
